Summer in the Square

Back again for another year, our Summer in the Square series features local artists who will regale and entertain you in Norman MacKenzie Square through the warm summer months. Performances will be twice a week, every Tuesday at 4:30pm and Saturday at 12pm, from July 8th to September 5th. So grab a beer at BierCraft Restaurant or a refreshing iced drink from Blenz and sit out on their patios, or take a seat in Norman MacKenzie Square, and see our amazing performers!

Today's Artist:

Jacob Seyer is a classical and finger-style guitarist currently residing in Vancouver, British Columbia. Jacob persistently seeks to share new ideas about the rapidly growing repertoire of the guitar as an accomplished performer, instructor, and active composer. In 2014, Jacob earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast Missouri State University. He then relocated to the Pacific Northwest where in 2017 he completed a Master of Music Degree at the University of British Columbia under Daniel Bolshoy.

Jacob is quickly integrating into the Vancouver music scene where he seeks to engage and serve the community. Jacob serves on the organizing committee for the first 2017 Vancouver International Music Competition, where he has developed sponsorship information, and works as the website and social media developer. As a member of the Vancouver Classic Guitar Society, Jacob participates in events throughout the season, assisting in program development and public outreach. Through the Vancouver Health Arts Society, Jacob consistently delivers engaging and informed performances to senior residents in care across the greater Vancouver area. As a freelance soloist, he has performed for various North American organizations including the Caruthersville Council of the Arts, Southeast Chamber Music Sundays at Three, and The American Musicological Society. In addition to his solo career, Jacob has performed in diverse ensemble settings, including performances with the Southeast Wind Symphony, University Choir, Choral Union, and in chamber music ensembles both with students and professors at university.
