New In house: Kinesiology!

Physioworks is excited to announce that their location at Wesbrook Village will now be offering kinesiology services! Their kinesiologist will be working closely with our Physiotherapists to help all clients however, will specialize in ICBC active rehabilitation, functional strength and conditioning and injury specific rehabilitation.

What is kinesiology? Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement, performance and function. kinesiology uses science-based research and assessment to assist in the prevention or rehabilitation of an injury, lifestyle diseases and other physiological conditions, as well as support the enhancement of human performance, such as in sport or work environments.

What is the difference between a physiotherapist and a kinesiologist? Although there are areas of overlap between the two, a kinesiologist's focus is on functional movement patterns and treatment is exercise-based to prevent, rehab, and manage injuries and chronic diseases. They also specialize in general strength and conditioning training. Whereas, a physiotherapists focus is on the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of injuries through a combination of manual therapy, exercise, and modalities (such as needling).
