The oldest tree in UBC’s Botanical Gardens is somewhere between 500 and 800 years old (they can’t know for sure without chopping it down). This mammoth Douglas Fir, known locally as “the Eagle’s Perch” is a five-minute walk from the garden’s entrance. Follow the path toward the tunnel. You’ll know the tree by its size and the eagles it attracts.
